Rafiabad school stays locked for second day

Baramulla: Residents of Dogripora village in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district on Wednesday did not allow the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) to open the school that villagers had locked on Tuesday. Reports said that a large number of people, including the student boys and girls of Government Middle School Dogripora, took to the streets on Wednesday to protest against the shortage of teaching staff in the school. They shouted slogans against the education department and also against the ZEO.
A team of Officials led by the ZEO reached the spot and assured the protesters that more teachers will be sent to the school. But the people continued to protest and did not allow the officials to open the school. Villagers said that until more teachers are sent to the school, they won’t allow the officials to open the lock they had put on the school.
